DJ Jitsu

DJ JitsuIn 1996 DJ Jitsu became immersed in EDM (electronic dance music) while being involved with a Honolulu nightclub called 1739. With each passing night at the club his fondness for house music grew strong until he naturally transitioned behind the turntables in 1997.

Jitsu was fortunate that a well established and respected underground San Francisco/Hawaii dj showed him the basics of beat matching, phrasing, mixing, etc. and sent him down the path of honing his dj skills. Multiple past residencies to include 1739 - lounge side (hawaii), The Backroom (tulsa), Afterhours @ Curlys (tulsa), Club Dym (tulsa), The Deep End (tulsa), Tsunamis (tulsa) along with monthly guest spots at The Down Lounge (tulsa), guest spots on Z104.5's Essential Mix with DJ Demko, Smartbar (chicago), as well as numerous one-off event appearances throughout the midwest states have helped Jitsu to sharpen his skills and continuously grow and learn as a DJ.

Mixer Magazine's September 2000 edition featured Jitsu's mix tape as well as his picture and bio information in their "The Next School" mix tape contest.
